DETROIT was very different back in 1997 when I graduated U of D Mercy Law School.  After my first daughter was born, I decided to switch gears from full time lawyer to full time mom (hmmm what would you say is more demanding?!?!).

BLINK…3 kids (all girls) and 16 years later…With some free time I decided to take a DETOUR from my everyday life! 

I was invited on a tour of Detroit and was AH-mazed! Detroit is a city energized with the most passionate, creative and welcoming people. You can experience the new and the old. Places in plain sight and those secret ones that take some investigating to find. More importantly, helping to support Detroit with our hands and hearts provides life lessons beyond measure. I found myself spending more and more time reading about Detroit’s people and places and began carving out time to explore the city and connect with its people. There is an energy that keeps drawing me back.

I would share the stories of my experiences with family and friends and they started asking to join me on my adventures. I became so passionate about what Detroit had to offer that I wanted to share these experiences with anyone who was interested. So, I started collaborating with my new Detroit friends to create unique Detroit experiences (aka “detours”).

Everyone should take a detour to Detroit. With a 139 square-mile playground, I promise there is a fun adventure for everyone!
