Is this a Library or a Museum?
WELL….BOTH!
Detroit Public Library docent led us on an enlightening tour through this magical institution packed with Michigan history, architecture, art and of course books! Our tour began at the bottom of the Grand Staircase made entirely out of marble leading to an arched Italian Renaissance ceiling, painted windows and murals. We viewed Detroit historical murals, six special collections and the breathtaking Pewabic Tile Fireplace. We concluded our tour amidst the botanical garden decor at Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails enjoying a luncheon specially crafted by “vegetable wizard” Chef Doug Hewitt.
