333 Midland | Onnes
333 Midland is a large industrial site in Highland Park (within the borders of Detroit). We met with New Zealand native artist/owner Robert Onnes for a tour of this historic factory, formerly the Lewis Stamping Plant. Extensive space is offered to artists and sculptors who wish to create large scale works. The Annex Gallery at 333 midland is open as an artist run showcase of the Detroit and Highland Park community, emerging and established artists.
Following the studio and gallery tour we traveled minutes to Hamtramack where we dined at Polish Village Cafe and enjoyed authentic Polish cuisine (dill pickle soup and pierogis…yum!).
Our detour ended at an inviting Parisian shop in the heart of Hamtramack called Le Detroit Macaron. The colors…the flavors…oh my! It was a difficult decision choosing just one…so I choose a box 12! Le Detroit Macaron is a charming little gem! Those of you with a sweet tooth…this is the place for you.
New Zealand - Poland - France…This was a detour filled with cultural diversity and authenticity!
