BANDHU = FRIEND
BANGLADESHI WOMEN CULTIVATING VIBRANT AND DENSE VEGETABLES AND FRIENDSHIPS IN DETROIT NEIGHBORHOOD GARDENS
I met Emily Staugaitis and Minara Begum of Banhdu Gardens on a cultural storytelling adventure through their authentic Bangladeshi pop up dinner at Rose’s Fine Foods. Bandhu Gardens recognizes the existing gardening and culinary talents of Bangladeshi women living in Detroit. As neighbors, they work together to amplify and expand economic opportunities. I relished the opportunity to build community through a shared cultural experience and make new friends.
