Detroit Community Fridge
Two Wayne State University students (Alyssa Rogers and Emily Eicher) launched the grass roots initiative after seeing community fridges pop up all over the country throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic. During a volunteer event organized by Repair the World I had the opportunity to visit one of the Detroit Community Fridge Locations (there are 5) and meet Alyssa. Working alongside volunteers to clean the area, restock the fridge and connect with other community members hoping to help people access free fresh and frozen foods and other necessary supplies was the best way to spend the first day of spring.
