FARMACY FOOD is cooking up Detroit’s newest Rx
Having the opportunity to sit down with Chef Phil Jones, Farmacy Food’s Chief Culinary Officer and Detroit’s Chef of the Year 2021, was a detour rich in culture, community and of course culinary delight! Since 1980, Chef Jones has been transforming Detroit’s foodscape through his commitment to make healthy food more affordable and accessible. Teaming up with Kwaku Osei, CEO of Farmacy Food, this dynamic duo is on a mission to prove that food has the power to closely connect and improve communities. Farmacy Food is based inside one of the beautiful historic buildings at Marygrove Conservancy where their team of chefs and nutritionists work together to create soups, salads and entrees that not only taste great but are great for you (like mouth watering curry chicken fonio, Caribbean carrot soup, cornbread, greens and peas…yum!) Chef Jones graciously provided an insightful tour highlighting the history of Marygrove and the positive impact Marygrove Conservancy and Farmacy Food is having on the surrounding community.
This detour was a lesson in food culture and PHILosophy complete with homemade ginger turmeric tea to go!
